Cookie Policy

Short version. This website sets no cookies of its own. Our analytics are cookieless. The only cookies connected with using this site are set by booking partners, on their own domains, at the moment you click a link through to them.

Cookies we set

None.

We do not set first-party cookies, we do not use local storage to track you, and we do not run advertising, retargeting or fingerprinting of any kind. One third-party script does run — see below — but it rewrites links rather than tracking you. There is no login, no comment system and no mailing list on this site, so there is nothing to remember about you between visits.

Analytics

We measure traffic with Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless by design. It does not store anything on your device, does not create a persistent identifier, and cannot recognise you on a return visit or on another website. It reports aggregate figures only: how many people read a page, which site sent them, roughly which country they were in, and what kind of device they used.

Because Plausible processes no personal data and stores nothing on your device, it does not require consent under the GDPR or the ePrivacy Directive — which is precisely why we chose it over Google Analytics.

The one script that runs here

We load Stay22’s link-rewriting script, which turns outbound accommodation links into tracked affiliate links so that a booking is credited to us. It reads the links on the page and nothing else, and it is how the accommodation half of this site is funded. It does not build a profile of you or follow you between websites. Stay22’s own privacy policy governs what it records when you click a rewritten link.

Partner cookies

Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, you leave hvarcoastal.com and arrive on a booking partner’s website — GetYourGuide, Viator, Booking.com, Direct Ferries, Discover Cars, Airalo or GetTransfer. At that point the partner sets its own cookie on its own domain so that if you go on to book, the sale is credited to us.

Three things follow from that:

• The cookie is set by the partner, not by us. We cannot read it and never see it.
• It is set when you click, not when you arrive on this site. If you never click an affiliate link, no cookie is ever set.
• What that cookie does, how long it lasts and what else the partner collects is governed by their cookie and privacy policies, which apply from the moment you land on their site.

Typical affiliate attribution windows run from 24 hours to 30 days depending on the partner. You can clear these cookies at any time in your browser settings, or block third-party cookies entirely — the only consequence is that we will not be credited if you book.

Managing cookies

Because we set none, there is nothing to opt out of on this site. If you want to control the partner cookies described above, every major browser lets you block or delete third-party cookies:

• Safari — Settings → Privacy → Prevent cross-site tracking (on by default)
• Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection
• Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
