Cookie Policy

Short version. Our analytics are cookieless and run for everyone. Two other third-party scripts — Stay22 and the GetYourGuide Integration Analyzer — run only if you opt in via the cookie banner, and nothing else is loaded before you choose. The one cookie we set ourselves is the one that remembers that choice.

Cookies we set

One: sw_consent_v1, which stores your cookie-banner choice (analytics yes/no, marketing yes/no, and when you made it) for about 180 days. It exists so we do not have to ask again on every page, and so we can honour a refusal. A cookie used solely to record a consent choice is exempt from the consent requirement itself — we would otherwise have no way to remember that you said no.

Beyond that we set no cookies. We do not run advertising, retargeting or fingerprinting of any kind, and there is no login, comment system or mailing list on this site.

One thing is stored outside cookies: if you dismiss the sister-site bar at the top of the page, we keep a single flag in your browser’s session storage so it does not reappear on every page you open. It is cleared when you close the tab, it identifies nothing, and it is never sent to us or anyone else.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the cookie button on any page, as easily as you gave it.

Analytics

We measure traffic with Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless by design. It does not store anything on your device, does not create a persistent identifier, and cannot recognise you on a return visit or on another website. It reports aggregate figures only: how many people read a page, which site sent them, roughly which country they were in, and what kind of device they used.

Because Plausible processes no personal data and stores nothing on your device, it does not require consent under the GDPR or the ePrivacy Directive — which is precisely why we chose it over Google Analytics.

Third-party scripts, and when they run

Neither of these loads until you opt in, and refusing costs you nothing — every booking link on the site works either way.

Stay22 LetMeAllez — Marketing category. Turns outbound accommodation links into tracked affiliate links so a booking is credited to us. It reads the links on the page and nothing else, and it is how the accommodation half of this site is funded. It does not build a profile of you or follow you between websites. Stay22’s own privacy policy governs what it records when you click a rewritten link.

GetYourGuide Integration Analyzer — Analytics category. Measures how GetYourGuide’s booking widgets perform on the page. Our affiliate credit does not depend on it; that comes from the partner ID in the link itself, which is why it is safe to switch off.

Partner cookies

Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, you leave hvarcoastal.com and arrive on a booking partner’s website — GetYourGuide, Viator, Booking.com, Direct Ferries, Discover Cars, Airalo or GetTransfer. At that point the partner sets its own cookie on its own domain so that if you go on to book, the sale is credited to us.

Three things follow from that:

• The cookie is set by the partner, not by us. We cannot read it and never see it.
• It is set when you click, not when you arrive on this site. If you never click an affiliate link, no cookie is ever set.
• What that cookie does, how long it lasts and what else the partner collects is governed by their cookie and privacy policies, which apply from the moment you land on their site.

Typical affiliate attribution windows run from 24 hours to 30 days depending on the partner. You can clear these cookies at any time in your browser settings, or block third-party cookies entirely — the only consequence is that we will not be credited if you book.

Managing cookies

Because we set none, there is nothing to opt out of on this site. If you want to control the partner cookies described above, every major browser lets you block or delete third-party cookies:

• Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
• Safari — Settings → Privacy → Prevent cross-site tracking (on by default)
• Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection
• Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
