Dubovica is the beach photographers use to sell the whole island: a stone hamlet, a crescent of white pebbles, water the colour of bottle glass. Park on the main road above and take the ten-minute path down — arrive before ten or after five and you may have it nearly to yourself.
Beyond it: Malo Zaraće's twin coves under the cliffs, Lučišća's pine-shaded bay near Sveta Nedjelja, and the southern shores of the Pakleni Islands — reachable only by boat, which is rather the point. Detailed guides to each, with moorings and swim-in coves, are in the Journal.
