Hvar Coastal is an independent guide to Hvar and the central Dalmatian islands. We are not owned by, and do not take payment from, any hotel, charter company, tour operator or tourism board. This page explains how the site is funded.

How we earn

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you book or buy through one, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you — you pay exactly the same price as you would going direct. Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored" in the page source, and every one of them routes through a /go/ link so it is identifiable as a commercial link rather than an editorial one. Accommodation links are the exception: they point straight at the booking site, because our accommodation partner (Stay22) attributes the referral by rewriting the link at the moment you click it.

Some outbound links earn us nothing at all. Operator timetable pages (Jadrolinija, Ferryhopper) and flight search links are included purely because you need them to plan the trip — we hold no commercial relationship with them. We would rather send you to the right timetable than to a partner who pays us.

What commission never buys

Commission rates play no part in what we recommend or how we rank it. No business can pay to appear on this site, to be placed higher, or to have criticism removed. Where we think a well-known tour is overpriced or a beach is not worth the journey, we say so — including when we hold an affiliate relationship with the company selling it.

Images on this site are used under free licences via Wikimedia Commons, with the photographer and licence for each one listed on our image credits page.

Accuracy

Ferry timetables change, restaurants close and prices move. We review pages regularly, but we cannot guarantee every detail is current at the moment you read it — always confirm times and prices with the operator before you travel.
